‘Life Unfolds’ is a collection of Indie Folk songs by Chicago-based singer-songwriter Derek Clegg. This is music written for the wide open spaces, it’s
the kind of music that will have your iPod scratching at the door, begging to be taken outside.
Nils Hoffmann, born in 1976 in Bremen, can look back on a very turbulent musical journey already: his trademark computer sounds teamed up with traditional American music from the Appalachian Mountains (together with Nathanial Damon playing Banjo and Violin), while he also produced electronic music with Benjamin Brunn and Florian Stender. The latter also contributed to “New Bad Summer”, one of the new tracks which is about the french revolution.
The fantastic Prozent Music celebrates his 3 birthday with a fantastic and deep release. Congratulations.
Joel Enzo turns the knobs, as producer and live-act as well as mastering engineer for Prozent Music in the right position. Fascinated by live-acts he saw in clubs, powered by the love to electronic music and driven by the need to create it on his own, he starts to produce his own tracks. This is how the journey with sampler and synthesizer through the clubs and bars of Munich began. The focus of his sets is on the symbiosis between energy and emotion, melodies for the heart and beats for the movement.
Once [dK] were [captain], [dixan] and [K], they used to write songs, play them and all the rest. They played a few gigs, recorded several tracks and got high on any possible drug. Then the economic trend and cosmic dynamics changed things. So [captain] quits, and after a period of mourning the fabulous Prof. [glazzy] joins the band. Same guts, different process, everlasting hatred. The mark will remain, the higher the tide, the mark is on the depth
Lucianno V (real name Luciano Villarreal) was born in 1988 and hails from Córdoba, Argentina, where he djs and produces regularly. He started out as a drummer in a local band creating sounds that closely resembled hip-hop, jazz and soul. After that, he grew closer to electronic music — making a variety of deep techno, minimal techno and tech-house.
Ignacio Sietetrece is also from Córdoba, Argentina. He started his production career alongside Lucianno V with a collaboration ep on the music women money label. He produces deep tech-house fueled by body-moving rhythms, groovy basslines, warm melodies and ambient textures.
Tribuman is based in Strasbourg (France) and born in a musical family, he started quite young playing in the middle of the 80s, first trumpet, before aiming to develop a personal ragga voicing style en 90s.
For this album, he decided to put his trumpet and vocal “raggamuffin” technics on several musical styles from breakbeat to dub. He also took the occasion to share tracks born from encounters he made these last years.
One year has passed since Starquake Records entered the scene. Well this was a hell of a ride. Happy Birthday to all artists and the label owners – you deserve it!
To celebrate this Birthday, Starquake released the fantastic Star-Cake compilation. Eat it. Well known names like Prof. Kliq, the Crossfaders and Sebastian Love are there. Go listen and download.
Electroacoustic. That’s the word that best describes Jerusalem-based Sasha Raskin‘s sound, a seamless blend of classical instruments and electronic noise. “Only Music” mixes breaked rhythms and synths with everything from brass and funked-out guitars to plucked violin strings and lonely saxophone lines.
For Raskin, it’s all about giving to others what music has given him.
“Music saved my life. Whether if you’re a musician or not, I guess
that in some part it did the same for you.”
Lata is the dub and electrolatino project from chilean Andrew Collyer, under which he has released music on labels such as Akwaaba (France/Ghana), Post World Industries (USA), The Rebel Sounds (Canada), Pueblo Nuevo (Chile) & Japon Records (Argentina).
Andrew lives and works in Santiago, although as a youth he lived in Arica, the chilean city closest to both Peru and Bolivia, sandwiched between the desert and the ocean. So, spending a lot time in the desert and in the ocean as a kid exposed him to the primary ideas of space, rhythm and flow. Playing every rock instrument in many bands growing up helped too. And later, going to architecture school and then working as an architect by day and making music at night sealed the deal.
Coming up from the underground, dusting himself off, standing in a gloomy worrying light, here comes “Evade The Grave”, the very first EP from italian producer DISCOFORGIA.
A nocturnal and sinister exorcism, a distorted electrified remedy, a raging and hectic effort to escape from what we are all headed for. A nocturnal and sinister exorcism, a distorted electrified remedy, a raging and hectic effort to escape from what we are all headed for.
