About starfrosch

This is the starfrosch blog and podcast. Will you follow us? We focus on something between music, fun and technology, mostly Creative Commons. Sounds we like range from electronic, electro, dub, reggae, indie, pop, trip-hop, drum’n'bass to urban and jazz.

Zomblaze – Budabeats

The new Zomblaze LP ‘Dronk Noise’ is a fine mixture of classic and new school hiphop, glitch and trip-hop. Despite of the rather dark atmosphere it fits perfectly into the Budabeats catalogue: due to the good old sample based production style on the album you can hear new interpretations of songs from Marlena Shaw, Kati Kovács or even Clint Eastwood and General Saint. Zomblaze got support from well-known MC’s like Kemon and Ponza (S10 Records) and expect some guitar action from Vanis.

Massive hip-hop.

Nils Hoffmann – Broque

Nils Hoffmann, born in 1976 in Bremen, can look back on a very turbulent musical journey already: his trademark computer sounds teamed up with traditional American music from the Appalachian Mountains (together with Nathanial Damon playing Banjo and Violin), while he also produced electronic music with Benjamin Brunn and Florian Stender. The latter also contributed to “New Bad Summer”, one of the new tracks which is about the french revolution.

Blue sounds.

Joel Enzo – Prozent Music

The fantastic Prozent Music celebrates his 3 birthday with a fantastic and deep release. Congratulations.

Joel Enzo turns the knobs, as producer and live-act as well as mastering engineer for Prozent Music in the right position. Fascinated by live-acts he saw in clubs, powered by the love to electronic music and driven by the need to create it on his own, he starts to produce his own tracks. This is how the journey with sampler and synthesizer through the clubs and bars of Munich began. The focus of his sets is on the symbiosis between energy and emotion, melodies for the heart and beats for the movement.

Chilly voices.

[dk] – blocSonic

Once [dK] were [captain], [dixan] and [K], they used to write songs, play them and all the rest. They played a few gigs, recorded several tracks and got high on any possible drug. Then the economic trend and cosmic dynamics changed things. So [captain] quits, and after a period of mourning the fabulous Prof. [glazzy] joins the band. Same guts, different process, everlasting hatred. The mark will remain, the higher the tide, the mark is on the depth

Pulsating electro pop.

Tribuman – LibreCommeLair

Tribuman is based in Strasbourg (France) and born in a musical family, he started quite young playing in the middle of the 80s, first trumpet, before aiming to develop a personal ragga voicing style en 90s.

For this album, he decided to put his trumpet and vocal “raggamuffin” technics on several musical styles from breakbeat to dub. He also took the occasion to share tracks born from encounters he made these last years.

We like the ragga e-hop style.
